What Really Happened Aboard Air France 447

I know this is old but I only had the chance to read it now. Go read the report, now:

Two years after the Airbus 330 plunged into the Atlantic Ocean, Air France 447’s flight-data recorders finally turned up. The revelations from the pilot transcript paint a surprising picture of chaos in the cockpit, and confusion between the pilots that led to the crash.

My heart was racing as I was reading the transcript of the pilots’ conversation and the explanation (or lack thereof) behind each decision as if I was watching a really good thriller movie in which the twist in the end is about to be revealed. And although I already knew the outcome, I was still foolishly hoping that the pilots would be able to save the plane on time.

What an horrible story. But what a valuable lesson for all pilots (and other critical professions alike) out there: in times of crisis, cooperation is essential.
